The LN46B650 lcd tv is the latest 46 inch television to be released by Samsung for 2009. Samsung have recently launched a new range of lcd televisions and the Ln46B650 will no doubt be a favorite purchase if the sales of its predecessor the LN46A650 is anything to go by. Revolutionary Medi@2.0™ transforms the Samsung LN46B650

Watching television has been revolutionized by the inclusion of Medi@2.0™ technology into the LN46B650 lcd hdtv. What does this new technology mean to the end user. Well in a nutshell it transforms the way we will access information into our living rooms via the television.
With a click of a button you will be able to switch from the normal a tv to a multimedia hub where you will be able to experience the latest content that is available on the internet.
At the time of writing this review the content that was available via the Samsung Internet TV service included Yahoo, Flickr and Youtube media.

The Samsung LN46B650 also comes with some preloaded content such as fitness exercises and cooking recipes but new content can be added to the tv's memory via the internet or via a USB device.

Watching this extra content can only be achieved by connecting the tv to the internet via an Ethernet connection. But this is just a simple case of connecting the set to your home internet hub directly from the router or cable modem. Wireless connectivity is also available but you will have to purchase a Samsung Linkstick which allows a wireless feed direct to the tv from your wireless router.

DNLA Technology links direct to your Home Network

Being able to connect to the internet to play or view new content is one thing, but what about being able to watch your media files that you have stored on your home computers. Well the LN46B650 is DNLA compatible. The DNLA protocol stands for Digital Living Network Alliance and this is technology whereby you can view your media files over a home network. There is an Ethernet port in the back of the tv that will connect to your home network or you can alternatively set up a wireless network.

USB Connectivity - Great for films, music and photos

A great feature for the new LN46B650 lcd is that it will play music, video and picture files directly from a USB drive. So now you can watch or listen to your media files by just plugging in a pen/thumb or external drive.

Early reports for the Ln46B650 tv have been so far pretty good. Just plug a USB drive into one of the USB ports on the side of the set and you can watch films that have been encoded in most formats. As an added bonus the set can take 2 USB drives at the same time and the LN46B650 will recognize both drives so that you can switch between drives from the onscreen menu. It appears that the majority of media files are supported including MP4, AVI and MKV up to 1080p. Early Samsung LN46B650 reviews state that video subtitles will work direct from a USB drive.
